This is a renovation of a three-story building in the port of Serifos. The building did not architecturally follow the local tradition and was abandoned for decades – thought to be a landmark of ‘ugliness’. The biggest challenge therefore was to create something fresh, vibrant, clean, and to erase the memory of its infamous image.

On the double-aspect ground floor, from the open terrace overlooking the port to the small protected backyard, an all-day café and bar restaurant was designed. Internal staircase leads to the three floors on which nine rooms have been designed. The materials used in the shell are mainly white plaster and gray cement mortar, while the custom constructions in both the restaurant and the rooms are designed with thin iron pipes in black and blue, processed oak wood and Carrara marble.  Plants hanging from the high ceilings of the building have also played an important role in all areas.
